big island visions from old grey heron
HSL is Ron Broomell’s 2nd WordPress Weblog, created to showcase the beauty of Hilo & The Big Island, featuring the places where water and land meet. For more please visit ronbroomell.wordpress.com
ron, is that you? hope all goes well. what are you doing in a warm, beautiful comfortable place like hawaii? photos are fabulous.
i have not been back to camp since 1976 or so. have to get back to what is there now just to be there once more…
my wife and i live in the woods near the rogue river in cannon township, mi, northeast of grand rapids. she teaches second grade in newaygo and i am a lawyer working out of my house representing injured workers.
lived up in gaylord, mi, for a while, near the au sable river. got an old nova craft prospector canoe hanging in the garage, used far too little.
only recent camp contacts have been bart rayniak, a newspaper photographer in spokane washington and bruce blair, who works for espn in chicago. understand joe napora is or was a poet and english lit professor at a university in ashland, ky. wonder about wayne holmstad and george demet. is done jesse still alive?
think about camp all the time. most significant thing in my young life. thank you, to your parents and you and your family for that. i found some photos of the first armstrong trip. some were lost in the fire after i had left them with your mom but found these. i can make copies if yu would like to see them.
read where pete seeger is still performing at age 88. you got a ways to go.
Ron, lookling through your pages I feel as though you are taking me along on your exploits. The enjoyment, discovery and experience is evident as it is obvious. I am thankful that you share in this way! Never stop. With much respcet from South Africa, pete klimek.
Pete, I’m really pleased that you took the time to browse my weblog, & even happier that you enjoyed it enough to send me a comment! It’s been good getting to know you a little on redbubble & I’m glad to share what I can.. Haven’t added anything to HSL in a long time but you inspire me to get back to it. Again thank you, I’m honored & looking forward to more contact, as time & distance allow, with the help of this modern miracle technology. All the best to you, Cheers & Aloha /~
